What a waste
all my money spent
on money to me lent
all gone, what has gone wrong ?
for today, on the 28th of June
I have bitten into my overdraft
the cost of which
is £ 1 a day - what a bitch
and soon, all too soon, I’m sure
I am to have a new score
a bad credit rating, a bad credit score
I have already sold all my gold
And for several winters have lived in the cold
while the apr on my credit card
zooms higher and higher
my bank can accurately be described
a financial vampire
for I am sunk into a swamp of serious debt
a quagmire, a financial net
and there are other spike threats
food and energy hikes set
food prices rocket
so we are all out of pocket
I have sold everything
everything
every ring
my fingers are quite bare
I have no rings left to wear
I cut my own hair
I have dropped a dress size
but am not watching my figure size
I simply can’t afford to eat
yet on the monthly beat
I pay the monthly interest fee
religiously ( and foolishly )
while I go hungry to bed the mighty
bankers' bloated bonus bellies are fed
with financial figures so almighty - crikey !
Crikey - I said
The government is dead to us
it doesn’t want to make a fuss
MP’s are too busy filling their boots
with paid for ‘on expenses’ loot
I will send this poem
to my bank’s press office
I will send this poem

but it will do no good
but makes me feel good
to express my fury
and let readers be my jury
